My child has little to no experience. What classes do you recommend?
If your child is under 3, we recommend Mini Movers. If your child is 3 or 4 years old, we recommend Mini Dance or Mini Combo. If your child is 5 and wants a combo class (tap, jazz and ballet), we recommend Mini Dance 2. If your child is 5-10 years old, we recommend any of our B1(5-10) classes. If your child is 10-16 years old, we recommend starting in any of our B(10-16) classes.
The session has already begun. Do I have to wait for a new session to start?
During Winter and Summer sessions, you can be added into a class mid-session if there is space available. You cost will be prorated to $15 for each remaining class. For example, if there were 6 classes remaining, the cost would be $90. During Spring and Fall sessions (show sessions), registration beyond the first two weeks of classes is taken on a case-by-case basis. This would depend on costume availability and if the student would be able to be caught up and feel confident on stage.
Does Jibe Studios have a dress code?
Jibe does not have a strict dress code. We require our participants to wear appropriate dance attire, but have no specific color or style requirements. Participants should were clothing that is comfortable, stretchy and easy to move in. Clothing should be somewhat fitted to allow instructors to see body positioning. Students are welcome to wear leotards, t-shirts, tanks, leggings, shorts, ballet skirts, etc. Hair should be worn up.
What shoes does my child need?
Mini Dance and Mini Combo students need tap and ballet shoes. All tap, jazz and ballet classes need tap, ballet and jazz shoes, respectively. Tumbling classes go barefoot and hip-hop classes wear tennis shoes.
What forms of payment do you accept?
You can register online using a credit or debit card. We accept Visa and Mastercard. In the studio, we accept cash and check.
Does Jibe Studios participate in dance competitions?
At Jibe Studios, we choose not to participate in dance competitions. We do, however, offer our students multiple performance opportunities to share their passion and progress with family, friends and the community. We have two studio-wide shows. We have a performing company, Jibe Crew, that performs in several shows throughout the year, including a Student Choreography Showcase that gives Crew members an opportunity to choreograph their own pieces.
How long will my child be in a level before progressing to the next class?
Children progress at different speeds depending on amount of practice, age, coordination, willingness/ability to take and make corrections, body control and natural ability. In addition, as the levels become more advanced, it takes longer and longer to master the skills for each level. Instructors are trained to challenge each student in every class. If you are interested in your child moving to a different class, talk with his/her instructor to see if she feels your child is ready or what skills need to be improved.
